What is Putaway Rule?
- Putaway Rule
- A Putaway Rule in ERPNext automatically assigns incoming stock to specific warehouse bins based on item, capacity, and priority rules.
Configuring Putaway Rules
Go to Stock → Putaway Rule → New. Select the item or item group, target warehouse, and capacity. Set a priority so ERPNext fills higher-priority bins first. The rule is applied on Purchase Receipts and Stock Entries when using the "Apply Putaway Rules" option.
Capacity Management
Each Putaway Rule stores the capacity (in UOM) of the bin. When a bin is full, ERPNext automatically routes overflow to the next available rule. This enables systematic warehouse organisation without manual bin assignment.
