RFID EXPLAINED — NO JARGON

What Is RFID? Here's RFID Explained Simply

If you've never worked with RFID before, here's the short version: RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a way to identify and track items automatically using radio waves — no manual scanning, no typing product codes into a screen, no walking around with a clipboard counting boxes by hand.

1. The Tag

A tiny chip with an antenna — smaller than a coin — is stuck on or built into a product, pallet, ID card or tool. It stores a unique ID number, nothing more.

2. The Reader

A reader — fixed at a doorway, or handheld — sends out radio waves. When a tag comes within range it "wakes up" and sends its ID back. No button press, no line of sight, no manual scanning.

3. The System

That read is logged instantly: what item, what location, what time. It flows straight into your inventory, ERP, billing or access-control software — no one types it in by hand.

You've Probably Used RFID Already — You Just Didn't Notice

Business RFID works on exactly the same idea — just applied to your stock, your tools or your gate, so it saves your team the manual work instead.

PASSIVE OR ACTIVE — WHICH DO YOU NEED?

Tag Every Item, or Track a Few in Real Time

Passive tags have no battery, cost very little per tag, and are ideal when you need to tag a large volume of inventory or products cheaply. Active tags carry their own battery, cost more, and broadcast their location continuously — the right choice for tracking a smaller number of high-value assets like forklifts, containers or expensive equipment in real time.

Most sites end up using a mix — passive for the bulk of inventory, active for the handful of assets that genuinely need real-time location.

Active tags for real-time location of high-value assets
Fixed readers at doorways for automatic bulk capture
Handheld readers for manual audits and cycle counts

THE BUSINESS CASE

How RFID Actually Saves Your Business Time and Money

Manual stock counts, manual data entry and manual searching for misplaced items all cost real hours and real rupees. RFID removes the "manual" from each of those — here's exactly where the savings come from.

Stock Counts in Minutes, Not Days

A manual warehouse count can take a team days of walking and writing on clipboards. A handheld RFID reader can capture hundreds of tags a second — the same count drops to minutes.

Fewer Costly Mistakes

Manual data entry means typos — wrong quantities, wrong SKUs, wrong locations. RFID logs the exact tag ID every time, so the stock figure your team sees is the stock figure that's actually there.

Less Shrinkage & Theft

EAS-style exit tags catch items leaving the store or warehouse unpaid or unlogged, so inventory loss that used to just "disappear" gets caught at the door.

Staff Freed for Real Work

Hours that used to go into manual counting and searching for misplaced items go back into sales, production or dispatch — the work that actually grows the business.

Faster Dispatch & Receiving

A truckload that used to be checked item-by-item against a paper list can be read in bulk at a dock-door reader in seconds as it passes through.

Lower Working Capital Locked in Stock

Real-time visibility means fewer surprise stockouts and less "just in case" overstocking — so less cash sits idle on the shelf.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Tags, Readers and Software, Built as One System

Passive & Active Tags

Low-cost passive tags for high-volume inventory tagging, or battery-powered active tags for real-time location of high-value assets.

Fixed & Handheld Readers

Fixed readers at doorways or dock-doors for automatic bulk scanning, handheld readers for manual audits and cycle counts.

No Line-of-Sight Needed

Read dozens of tags at once without pointing at each one individually — unlike barcode, items don't need to face the scanner.

Real-Time Inventory Sync

Every read updates stock or asset location instantly, synced into your inventory or ERP system.

Zone & Movement Alerts

Get an alert the moment a tagged item enters, exits or moves between zones you define.

Access Control Ready

The same RFID infrastructure can double as employee badge or vehicle gate access control.

ERP / WMS Integration

Read events feed directly into ERPNext, custom ERP or your existing warehouse management system.

On-Site Installation

Reader placement, antenna tuning and commissioning across Pune, PCMC and nearby industrial areas.

FROM DAY ONE TO SCALE

RFID Use Cases: From Getting Started to Advanced Deployments

You don't need to tag your entire facility on day one. Most businesses start with one simple use case, prove the time savings, then grow into more advanced setups.

BASIC

Getting Started

Handheld reader for stock counts instead of a manual clipboard count
RFID badges for staff entry instead of manual sign-in registers
Anti-theft tags at the store or warehouse exit
INTERMEDIATE

Growing Business

Fixed readers at doorways auto-sync stock into your ERP or POS as goods move
Zone alerts the moment a tagged tool or asset leaves its designated area
Dock-door bulk scanning for faster, more accurate receiving and dispatch
ADVANCED

Advanced / Enterprise

Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) tracking exact asset position across a multi-floor site or yard
Work-in-progress (WIP) tracking that shows exactly which stage every unit is at on the line
Cold-chain / IoT sensor tags monitoring temperature alongside location for sensitive goods
Serialization and anti-counterfeiting tracking for pharma or high-value goods
