What is Employee Checkin?

- Employee Checkin in ERPNext stores biometric or manual check-in/check-out timestamps used to auto-calculate daily attendance and working hours.
Importing Checkins
Employee Checkin records are created via API from biometric devices or by manual entry under HR → Employee Checkin. Each record stores employee, timestamp, and log type (IN/OUT). The background job "Process Auto Attendance" converts these into Attendance records.
Late Entry and Early Exit
ERPNext's Shift Type settings define late entry grace period and early exit threshold. The "Auto Attendance" job marks employees as Late or Early Exit based on these thresholds. These flags can trigger workflow notifications to HR managers.
