What is HR Settings?

- HR Settings in ERPNext configure system-wide defaults for the human resources module, including leave encashment, payroll frequency, and self-service options.
Key HR Settings
Go to HR → HR Settings. Configure: "Enter Work Hours" (for timesheet-based payroll), "Max Working Hours Against Timesheet", leave encashment rules, expense claim limits, and whether employees can apply for leave beyond their balance.
HR Module Permissions
HR Settings also controls who can see salary information. The "HR Manager" role has access to all employee payroll data. Configure role-based permissions so department heads see only their team's HR records while maintaining data confidentiality.
