What is Unit of Measure (UOM)?

Unit of Measure (UOM)
Unit of Measure (UOM) in ERPNext defines how quantities are expressed for an item, with conversion factors allowing buying in KG and selling in pieces.

Configuring UOMs

Go to Stock → Unit of Measure → New to create custom UOMs (Box, Dozen, Metre Roll). On the Item master, set the Stock UOM. In the UOM Conversion Factor table, define conversions (1 Box = 12 Nos) to allow transactions in multiple units.

Multi-UOM in Transactions

On Sales and Purchase documents, you can select a transaction UOM different from the stock UOM. ERPNext converts quantities automatically. Reports always show stock in the Stock UOM, maintaining consistency in inventory valuation.
