What is Sales Order?

Sales Order
A Sales Order in ERPNext is the confirmed customer purchase order that triggers procurement, production, and delivery workflows in ERPNext.

Sales Order in the Order-to-Cash Cycle

Go to Selling → Sales Order → New. Add items, quantities, rates, delivery date, and warehouse. On submission, ERPNext reserves stock (if "Reserve Warehouse" is enabled) and creates backlog quantities for production planning and procurement.

Fulfilment Tracking

From the Sales Order, create a Pick List, Delivery Note, and Sales Invoice in sequence. ERPNext tracks the % Delivered and % Billed on the Sales Order, showing Fully Delivered, Partially Delivered, or To Deliver and Bill status.
