What is Trial Balance?

Trial Balance
The Trial Balance report in ERPNext lists all accounts with their debit and credit totals for a period, confirming that books are balanced.

Running the Trial Balance

Go to Accounting → Trial Balance. Select the fiscal year, period, and company. The report shows opening balance, period debits/credits, and closing balance per account. A "Show Zero Balance" option includes inactive accounts.

Using Trial Balance for Month-End Close

ERPNext accountants use the Trial Balance to verify all entries before closing a period. You can lock periods using Accounting Period settings to prevent back-dated entries after close.
