- ERPNext's Budgeting module enables annual budget planning per Cost Centre or Project with monthly distributions and real-time variance monitoring against actuals.
Budget Planning in ERPNext
Create Budgets under Accounting → Budget. Assign budget amounts to accounts within a Cost Centre for the fiscal year. Use the "Monthly Distribution" template to spread the annual budget non-linearly (e.g., higher budget in Q3 for a seasonal business).
Budget Variance Report
The Budget Variance report compares actual expenditure vs budget by account and cost centre, period by period. Finance teams use this for monthly review meetings. The "Ignore Budget" checkbox on individual transactions lets exceptions pass through when needed.
