What is Budget?

- ERPNext Budgets let you set spending limits per Cost Centre or Project and automatically alerts or blocks transactions that exceed the budget.
Creating Budgets in ERPNext
Navigate to Accounting → Budget → New. Select the Cost Centre or Project, fiscal year, and monthly/quarterly distribution. Enter the budget amount per account. ERPNext tracks actual spending in real time against the budget.
Budget Controls and Alerts
Set "Action if Annual Budget Exceeded" to Warn, Stop, or Ignore. With Stop enabled, ERPNext blocks expense entries that would breach the budget. Use the Budget Variance Report under Accounting to see actual vs budget by account and period.
