- A Salary Structure in ERPNext is a template defining the earnings (Basic, HRA, Allowances) and deductions (PF, ESI, TDS) that make up an employee's payslip.
Building a Salary Structure
Go to Payroll → Salary Structure → New. Add Earnings rows (component, condition, formula or amount) and Deductions rows. Use Python-like formulas referencing salary components (e.g., HRA = base * 0.40). Mark components as taxable or non-taxable for TDS calculation.
Assigning Salary Structures
Go to Payroll → Salary Structure Assignment → New. Select the employee, salary structure, and base salary from date. One employee can have structure changes over time — ERPNext picks the active assignment for the payroll period being processed.
