What is Project Costing?

- Project Costing in ERPNext aggregates all direct costs (timesheets, expenses, purchases) against a project to show actual cost vs budget and gross margin.
Cost Tracking in Projects
ERPNext accumulates costs from Timesheets (hours × cost rate), Expense Claims, and Purchase Invoices tagged to the project. The Project record's Summary section shows Total Billable Amount, Total Billed, Total Costing Amount, and Gross Margin in real time.
Project Analytics Report
The Project Analytics report under Project → Project provides a detailed breakdown of revenue and cost by project. Sort by profitability to identify the most and least profitable projects, and drill down to the timesheet or purchase invoice level.
