What is Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?
- Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
- A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic credential issued by licensed CAs in India, used to sign MCA filings, GST returns, income tax returns, and e-invoices digitally.
DSC Classes and Usage
Class 2 DSC: for income tax and GST returns (individual). Class 3 DSC: for MCA filings, e-tendering, and high-value transactions (mandatory for company directors and partners). DSCs are issued for 1–3 years and must be renewed before expiry to avoid disruption to filing obligations.
DSC in ERPNext Workflows
ERPNext does not natively embed DSC signing but integrates with e-Invoice and e-Waybill systems where the IRP/EWB API handles digital signing on the government side. For MCA and income tax filings, export ERPNext reports and use the respective government portal's DSC-based signing workflow.
