What is E-Invoicing (India)?
- E-Invoicing (India)
- E-Invoicing in India is the government mandate requiring B2B GST invoices to be registered with the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) to receive an IRN and digitally signed QR code.
E-Invoice Mandate Applicability
E-invoicing has been progressively expanded: from October 2020 (₹500 Cr+ turnover) to October 2022 (₹10 Cr+) to August 2023 (₹5 Cr+). The government is expected to reduce the threshold further. B2C invoices, supply to SEZ without tax, and exports with LUT are exempt.
E-Invoice Process
1. Generate invoice data in ERPNext. 2. System sends JSON to IRP (Invoice Registration Portal). 3. IRP validates, registers, and returns IRN + digitally signed QR code. 4. QR code is embedded on the printed invoice. 5. Invoice data flows automatically to GSTR-1. All steps happen in seconds via ERPNext India Compliance app.
