What is Blanket Order?

- A Blanket Order in ERPNext is a long-term agreement with a customer or supplier defining quantity and price over a period, from which individual Sales or Purchase Orders are released.
Creating a Blanket Order
Go to Selling → Blanket Order → New (or Buying for purchase). Set the customer, validity dates, and item quantities with the agreed rate. As regular Sales Orders are raised, link them to the Blanket Order — ERPNext tracks cumulative quantity released vs the blanket quantity.
Rate Lock and Quantity Control
Blanket Orders lock in the price for the validity period, protecting both buyer and seller from rate fluctuations. ERPNext warns when the remaining blanket quantity is nearly exhausted, prompting renewal negotiations.
