Unlike Activity Log (which records edits), Access Log records every read access to sensitive documents — tracking which user viewed which record and when.
Compliance Use
For GDPR, data privacy policies, or internal controls, Access Logs provide evidence that sensitive employee, customer, or financial data was accessed only by authorized users.
Enabling Access Log
Access logging is enabled per doctype in ERPNext's Document Access settings. Once enabled, every form open triggers a log entry.
