- Udyam Registration is the official MSME registration portal launched in 2020, replacing the old Udyog Aadhaar, providing businesses a 19-digit Udyam Registration Number for scheme benefits.
Registration Process
Register at udyamregistration.gov.in using the proprietor's/director's Aadhaar. PAN and GSTIN are linked automatically. Classification is based on the previous year's income tax return data (investment in P&ME and turnover). The certificate is permanent and does not need annual renewal.
Benefits of Udyam Registration
Key benefits: preferential allocation of government tenders (MSMEs get price preference and lower EMD), credit under CGTMSE (collateral-free loans up to ₹2 Cr), reduced patent/trademark filing fees (80% rebate for micro, 50% for small), protection under MSMED Act (45-day payment rule), and priority sector lending.
