What is Frappe Framework?

- Frappe is the open-source full-stack Python web framework on which ERPNext is built, providing the DocType ORM, REST API, job queuing, and multi-tenancy infrastructure.
Frappe Architecture
Frappe runs on Python (Flask-like), MariaDB, Redis (cache/queue), Socket.io (realtime), and a JavaScript front-end. The bench CLI manages sites, apps, migrations, and background workers. ERPNext is just a Frappe app installed on top of the framework.
Extending Frappe
Developers extend Frappe by building custom apps using "bench new-app". Custom apps install alongside ERPNext, adding new DocTypes, reports, APIs, and web pages. This modular approach keeps customisations upgradeable when ERPNext releases new versions.
